I love how my blog community keeps expanding. Foolish Knight is a blog friend of Stan’s, and he has some great insight into all things Literary! He has started a new blog called Communication Matters, and the first two posts are concerning the place of the artistic in Christianity. It is a must read for anyone interested in such a subject (Jana, this absolutely means you).
Related to that, I recommend reading Addicted to Mediocrity: 20th Century Christians and the Arts by Frankie Schaeffer. It’s quite an eye-opener, as well as an inspiration to produce the very best works you possibly can.
I read that book for a class during my undergrad years. He said a lot of really good and true things, but I found it somewhat ironic that a book centering on “excellence” in the arts would have so many grammatical errors. One of my favorite books, also happening to be on the subject of Christianity and the arts, is Walking on Water: Reflections on Faith and Art by Madeleine L’Engle. An absolute must-read.
