Movie Review: Horton Hears a Who!

On Saturday night, Stan and I decided to take the delightful nephew over to the drive-in to see Horton Hears a Who!. I knew I wanted to see this as soon as I saw the teaser a few months back. I can usually guarantee that when the teaser makes me cry, that the movie will be amazing.

It was.

In addition to the fact that we watched the movie with the nephew, who is hilarious, the film was beautiful.

In case you are Dr. Seuss deficient, Horton Hears a Who! is the story of a sweet elephant who hears a voice coming from a speck of dust, and upon discovering that there is life on that speck, determines to get that speck to a safe place, encountering a lot of opposition along the way because no one believes his story.

Needless to say, when you have the imagination of Dr. Seuss to work with, you can’t really fail with animation. The movie was wonderful. I want to see it again, and again.

The voice talents of the film included Jim Carrey, Steve Carell, Carol Burnett, Amy Pohler, and the increasingly popular Jonah Hill (whom you might recognize as Eugene from Evan Almighty).

It was an amazing cast. Carrey and Carell are fantastic together. Stan and I want to see them do a drama someday. And Carol Burnett, who proved to us in Annie that she could play an excellent bad guy, and did not disappoint in this film.

I’m totally giving the film 5 stars. It is worth every penny!
